Vernon’s Room is located on the second floor at the
rear of the house. It is named for Hollis’ father,
who taught school in one-room schoolhouses in the
late 1930s.
A highlight of the room is a hide-away study
complete with an antique writing desk and period
school books. You may be tempted to slip on the old
reading glasses and imagine a class of button-shoed
students awaiting your wise instruction
The room, painted in blue, has a
double bed with a wall-mounted antique headboard. A
vintage floor radio makes you harken back to
old-time shows like The Shadow, and the nearby Amish
rocker makes it tempting to see if you can really
turn back time.
The private bath has claw-foot tub
and shower ring, and you can gaze out at the back
yard through an antique colored glass window.
